Haslop’s hands-on training and the operational advantage it brings
Here at Haslop & Mason, supporting our customers goes beyond supplying high-quality electrical components; it’s about equipping them with the knowledge and tools to optimise their operations. In line with this commitment, we recently hosted a hands-on training workshop in partnership with global automation leader, Rockwell Automation, providing our customers with practical insights on maximising Rockwell’s TechConnect remote support solution.
Led by Rockwell Automation specialists, the workshop aimed to shift perceptions of TechConnect from a routine support service to a proactive risk-management tool. The message was clear: operational resilience works best when it’s planned, not reactive.
"Many production challenges arise because risks aren’t actively managed," says Haslop & Mason Managing Director, Kevin Dersley. "By the time you notice a problem, downtime has already started."
Our workshop attendees explored TechConnect’s full support ecosystem, including a knowledge base of over 100,000 articles, interactive peer forums via Rockwell’s Engage platform, live chat, phone support, and remote desktop assistance.
A standout feature was asset visibility. Through the “My Equipment” tool, TechConnect allows users to track installed equipment, monitor lifecycle status, and receive proactive notifications about products approaching end-of-life.
"I’ve mostly relied on TechConnect for information and resources," says customer Benjamin Nelson, a project engineer. "Now I’ve learned you can track all your equipment and get alerts about potential issues before they happen."
Highlighting the strategic value of the solution, Bonga Nteleza, an engineering coordinator, adds: "You can see when a product might reach end-of-life years in advance, so you can plan ahead, including financially. You don’t get caught off guard."
Automation engineer Jaco Barkhuysen noted the broader benefits of the training session: "A session like this is invaluable. Things move so quickly today that it’s impossible to keep up on your own. Plus, you get to hear insights from others in the industry."
Beyond features, the workshop reinforced the importance of guided support and knowledge sharing. Rockwell Lifecycle Services Consultant, Mmakgoshi Sebata, who led the training, notes, "These sessions help clients stay ahead, deepen relationships, provide practical guidance, and reduce operational risk."
By empowering our customers with the relevant tools, insights, and strategies, we help to ensure that their operations remain prepared and resilient, long before any problems arise.
