Terms and Conditions
Website use, accounts, orders, and supply of goods.
These terms and conditions govern your use of the Haslop and Mason website, the registration and use of an account, and the supply of goods that you order through the site. By registering for an account or placing an order, you agree to these terms.
These terms should be read together with the company's Returns, Refunds and Cancellations Policy, Complaint Handling Process, and Privacy Policy. Where there is any conflict between these terms and one of those policies on a matter that the policy deals with specifically, the policy applies to that matter.

2. About these terms
These terms and conditions govern your use of the Haslop and Mason website, the registration and use of an account, and the supply of goods that you order through the site. By registering for an account or placing an order, you agree to these terms.
3. Accounts and registration
3.1 An approved account is required
You must register for an account to place an order. You cannot order without one. When you register, your account remains pending until Haslop and Mason has reviewed your details and approved it. Only once your account is approved can you place an order. Haslop and Mason may decline a registration at its discretion, for example where the applicant cannot be verified as a genuine trade or business customer.
3.2 Your responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your account login details confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account. You must give accurate information when you register and keep it up to date. You must tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your authority.
3.3 Suspension and closure
Haslop and Mason may suspend or close an account where these terms are breached, where information given is false, or where the account is used unlawfully. You may ask us to close your account at any time. Closing an account does not affect orders already placed or amounts already owing.
4. Quotes, orders, and pricing
4.1 How an order is formed
The website lets you build a quote and place an order. Prices and product information on the site are an invitation to do business, not an offer. Your order is an offer to buy. A binding contract is formed only when Haslop and Mason accepts your order, whether by written confirmation, by issuing an invoice, or by supplying the goods.
4.2 No payment is taken on the website
No card payments are processed through the website. Payment is arranged separately, on the account and settlement terms agreed with you. Goods are supplied subject to the reservation of ownership in section 7.
4.3 Pricing and availability
Prices are shown exclusive VAT as indicated on the site and on the quote. We take care to price and describe goods accurately, but errors can occur. Where an obvious error in price or description is found, we will tell you before the order is accepted and you may confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it. Goods are subject to availability, and availability depends on stock and on third-party suppliers.
5. Delivery
Haslop and Mason will make a reasonable effort to deliver by the date agreed and stated in the quotation. Delivery and installation dates are approximate. The timing of delivery depends on the availability of goods, components, materials, and production scheduling, and on third-party suppliers' schedules, which are outside Haslop and Mason's reasonable control.
Goods are delivered using third-party couriers. The courier partners currently used are:
- Transmart Couriers
- Triton Express Couriers
- JKJ Couriers
You must inspect the goods on delivery. If goods are damaged, defective, or incorrect, you must report this to Haslop and Mason within seven (7) days of delivery, in line with the Returns and Refunds Policy.
6. Returns, defective goods, and warranty
The return of goods, defective-goods claims, handling fees, non-returnable items, refund method, and warranty are dealt with in full in the company's Returns and Refunds Policy, which forms part of these terms. The key conditions are summarised below; the Returns and Refunds Policy governs in the event of any difference of detail.
6.1 Replacement and return
- Faulty goods will be promptly replaced, provided the goods have not been used or applied in a manner that caused the alleged defect or failure.
- For a claim to be valid, the faulty goods must be supported by the original tax invoice.
- Guarantees are void where goods have been tampered with or used or stored outside the manufacturer's specifications. This does not limit a consumer's rights under the CPA.
- Once the packaging seal on a product is broken, no change-of-mind return will be accepted unless the product is defective.
- Non-stock items, and items ordered specifically for a customer, are not eligible for return or credit.
- Stock items are eligible for change-of-mind return for up to three (3) months from the date of the original tax invoice, subject to a 15% handling fee and to the goods being unused and in resaleable condition.
- No refund will be considered for goods that have been partially or wholly disassembled, physically altered, joined or added to, blended or combined with other goods, or embedded within other goods, except where a consumer's statutory rights apply.
- Cable cut to a specific length cannot be returned.
- Returned goods are subject to the 15% handling fee for packaging and restocking.
- Haslop and Mason may withhold a refund for a reasonable period while an alleged defective product or part is examined and tested by the manufacturer, where the manufacturer provides that testing.
6.2 Warranty and safe use
Goods carry the warranty offered by the relevant manufacturer, which Haslop and Mason passes through to you. You must comply with the manufacturer's standards and specifications when using goods bought from Haslop and Mason, especially safety and warning instructions. All electrical components must be fitted by a qualified, accredited electrician.
6.3 Consumer rights
Where you are a consumer under the CPA, you are entitled to return goods that are unsafe, defective, or of poor quality within six (6) months of delivery for a repair, replacement, or refund. This right applies regardless of the packaging-seal and three-month conditions above and cannot be limited by these terms.
7. Ownership of goods
All goods and parts sold remain the property of Haslop and Mason Engineering (Pty) Ltd until payment in full has been made and received. Until then, you hold the goods on our behalf and must not dispose of or encumber them in a way that defeats our ownership.
8. Electronic communications and evidence
These terms, your account, your orders, and our communications may be created and kept in electronic form. Any printout of computer-generated evidence tendered by any party is admissible in evidence in terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002, and you agree not to dispute its admissibility merely because it is in electronic or printed-from-electronic form.
9. Acceptable use of the website
You may use the website only for lawful purposes and to do legitimate business with Haslop and Mason. You must not misuse the site, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious code, or use it to infringe the rights of others or to place fraudulent orders.
10. Intellectual property
The content of the website, including its text, layout, graphics, logos, and product information, belongs to Haslop and Mason or its licensors and is protected by law. You may use it for the purpose of doing business with Haslop and Mason. You may not copy, reproduce, or use it for any other purpose without our permission.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Haslop and Mason is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of the website or from delay in delivery caused by matters outside its reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability under the Consumer Protection Act for harm caused by unsafe or defective goods, and nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Privacy and data protection
Haslop and Mason processes your personal information in line with its Privacy Policy and the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013. The Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, why, how it is protected, and the rights you have. The company's Information Officer is Lyle Wentzel, contactable at lyle@handm.co.za.
13. Changes to these terms
Haslop and Mason may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always available on the website, and the order you place is governed by the terms in force when Haslop and Mason accepts your order.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Complaints are handled in line with the company's Complaint Handling Process. Nothing in these terms affects a consumer's right to approach the National Consumer Commission, a consumer court, or another body with jurisdiction under the Consumer Protection Act.
